Volunteers

The time and passion Rape Crisis Center Volunteers dedicate to serving the San Antonio community are invaluable. We can’t provide services to survivors and the community at large without volunteers willing to step up and help out. This is especially true of those who volunteered during the Covid-19 pandemic. While Rape Crisis Center staff worked diligently to provide services utilizing remote or virtual means, having the support of volunteers and interns during this transitional time made a world of difference for staff and clients alike.

If you’re interested in volunteering, check out our Volunteer page. There are many areas available for future volunteers to get involved in including Advocacy, Crisis Hotline, and Community Outreach. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Volunteer Spotlight: Stephanie Leonard

Stephanie Leonard, Advocacy Volunteer

Stephanie Leonard has been a volunteer at the Rape Crisis Center since October 2021. We are grateful for her service to RCC as a volunteer with our Advocacy Department. Thank you, Stephanie. We are excited to recognize you!

“Volunteering at the Rape Crisis Center has been nothing short of amazing. Not only do I get to be there for others, but I also learn so much from the people that I help. Being a victim is not what defines them, it’s the fact that they are survivors. The persistence to overcome the trauma and take the steps to ensure that no one else succumbs to such tragedy with the resources we offer is nothing short of bravery. This in turn helps me become a better person personally and professionally. The many elements I take away from every situation are unique and push me to be better in an assertive manner while inserting compassion.” -Stephanie Leonard

“As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands – one for helping yourself and one for helping others.” -Audrey Hepburn
