Birth/Breastfeeding and Sexual Abuse

The Rape Crisis Center 4606 Centerview Ste. 200, San Antonio

What do the Alamo Area Rape Crisis Center and Breastfeeding Housecalls have in common? Quite a bit, actually. Both the AARCC and BH often serve the same clients--and if you work in birth and breastfeeding, so do you---and we're all strategic to helping affected families heal, and to helping women to repurpose their bodies from sexual abuse, family violence, rape culture and human trafficking. This FREE chat is open to any birth professional at every level of care...from physicians to WIC Peer Counselors, to birth photographers--if you work with new families, and you want meaningful tools for your healing toolbox, make it a point to join us Wednesday, Sept 27, 2017 @ 6 pm. The address is on the flyer below, as well as contact information. Because space is limited, please RSVP at admin@breastfeedinghousecalls.com. Please let us know if you'll join us, and of course, please share the event.

This event will include poetry on sensitive subjects by Raise the Whisper, followed by a discussion. Raise the Whisper : Cultivating healing from the effects of family rape and sexual abuse, Raise The Whisper is an act of expression aimed to break down silent barriers and lift the unmerited burden of guilt and shame felt by survivors. We serve our community by activating a safe space for the sharing of our stories and healing journey primarily through creative expression.

Quiz for a Cause

Mad Pecker Brewing Co. 6025 Tezel Rd, # 122, San Antonio

Come out to support The Rape Crisis Center as Geeks Who Drink host their classic pub quiz! It's going to be a fun event to spread awareness about the Center and raise money to support survivors and end sexual violence. Check out what the Quizmaster had to say about it: "Nothing brings a group of quizzers together quite like having a common goal, and tonight our goal was to raise money for The Rape Crisis Center of San Antonio... this one was by far the craziest, silliest and yet most effective fundraiser I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of... I mean, I always have fun hosting quiz, but this was by far one of the most fun quizzes I've ever hosted, hands down."
