Outreach Coordinator

The Rape Crisis Center is seeking to fill the position of Outreach Coordinator. The Outreach Coordinator serves as one of The Rape Crisis Center’s major voices within the community. He/she will coordinate and facilitate education programs to a variety of youth and adult audiences to raise awareness of the agency and increase knowledge of sexual violence prevention and response. Additionally, the Outreach Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the planning and coordination of awareness and education events to general and target audiences in order to enhance community engagement.The Outreach Coordinator acts as one of The Center’s representatives at coalition meetings and other events, as required; participates in television and media events, as appropriate; attends meetings after normal working hours; and performs other tasks as required. The Center expects the Outreach Coordinator to take an active role and participate in professional growth endeavors to increase his/her skills as a public speaker, activist for the agency, and expert in the issues surrounding sexual violence.

Requirements: Four-year degree in a social service or public health field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience in public speaking. Excellent time management skills, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to handle a variety of diverse issues in a stressful environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as needed. Prior work experience in a trauma center or crisis response center is preferred. Moderate standing and lifting. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and access to a vehicle. Completion of The Rape Crisis Center 40-hour required training within the first six months of employment. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Special Skills and Abilities: Experience and comfort presenting to diverse groups and networking throughout the community. Works well independently and on a team. Maturity and good judgment in relating to colleagues and community members.
Full-Time Employment: 40 hours/week, including some evenings and weekends
Salary Range: $34,000 – $40,000
